Wednesday, August 12th, 2009Demand for Mobile DJ’s is highest on Saturday Night. However, there are some shows that are available during the week, most notably school functions as well as some weeknight demand in Clubs, Radio and now Internet Radio.
What makes a good DJ?
Let’s take a look at the job description. Mobile DJ. Mobile…hum. Dependable vehicle would be a good place to start. Or is it dependable person with a dependable vehicle? Either way, dependability is a very high priority. I don’t care how great the person is, if they can’t get to the show on time, they are of no use to my company and most certainly yours.
Mobile DJ also infers difference.
Different crowds, different places, different types of events. Flexibility is a good trait. Someone who is comfortable in all situations would be a good DJ. A person who likes doing different things and enjoys diversity would make a good DJ.
The term Mobile DJ. DJ. The person has to be a DJ. That means they have to have a high music aptitude (and because of the mobility factor, it should be fairly diverse), excellent Microphone skills, and enjoy crowds. Of course that person needs to be fairly personable, and it helps to be neatly groomed and have a Tuxedo when requested, but I think you get the idea of what type of person it takes to be a Mobile DJ.
Who uses Mobile DJ’s?
Just as you can’t have a Mobile DJ Company without DJ’s, there is no reason to have a Company without customers. Mobile Music Customers typically fit into one of these categories: Brides wanting music for a Wedding Reception, Company Event Planner wanting music for a Christmas Party or Picnic, School Sponsor wanting music for Dance or Prom.
DJ’s have become the default choice of Brides wanting Wedding Reception entertainment. They get an MC. They get the music they want, sung by the original artists. And probably most importantly, they get a huge selection at a price that is just a fraction of what they would have to pay for a band.
Company Event Planners have recently discovered the joys of hiring a DJ. What better way to spice up a Company outing for families than to have a DJ. It is cost effective and gives them overall control of the event. Whether it is a Christmas party where they’re having a formal presentation or a casual event, a DJ can adjust to the customers need.
School Dances are becoming a bigger marker. Kids now demand the latest music and a fun atmosphere. Proms are not only for the older students, but they’re becoming a spring tradition for most grades. Events are bigger and better than ever. And as such, they are a market to pay attention to.
